Lesson 13/9

 In today's lesson, I wrote an about page for the band and added it onto the website, along with some images that fit the aesthetic of the website, and the band as a whole.

Lesson 12/9

 In today's lesson I started creating my website. I also edited an image to create the album cover for the band, which I incorporated onto the website, as well as beginning to add features to it. This includes a sign up form for 'exclusive information', which will entice general audiences as well as avid fans, allowing them to feel a closer connection to the band.

Deciding on a band name:

Retrac (Carter backwards)

In this lesson, I considered some potential band names using some band name generator websites to gain some inspiration by inputting some details about the band. Some generators even suggested some potential song names that I could feature on the website. I decided in the end, that the band name I am going to use is 'Retrac'. It is the lead singer's name "Carter', spelt backwards and I feel as though it is short, memorable and a little bit quirky to reflect the band's star persona.

Showing the band's success:

I also edited an image of a member of the band onto a Grammy's award show background that I am going to feature on the band's website. I feel as though it is important to demonstrate the band's successes, as it feeds into the star persona of both the artists and the band as a whole. I decided to feature her in cultural wear to enhance this also.

I undertook a photo shoot of both of the band members, who are also going to be featured in my music video. I feel as though the poses, body language and use of clothing and props efficiently create the star persona of both individuals, particularly the male lead singer. The variation in shot types allowed me to explore my model's best angles in order to take the best pictures that will appeal to the aesthetic of my website and the band in general.

Planning: lyric annotation and shotlist

 

In this lesson, I annotated the lyrics to my songs to get a rough idea of the timeline for my music video. I tried to use intertextuality and reflect the lyrics through the video, whilst sticking to a rough narrative.

I also began to create a shot list for the music video, in order to help me when filming my footage.

Planning: photoshoot pose ideas

 Here are some of images I gained inspiration from for different poses I could use in the professional photoshoot. I have included images of both close upland wide shots to get a varied range of images that I could use on my website. I will also have to consider the use of props, such as flowers or sunglasses in preparation for my shoot.

Planning: Website sketches

 In my sketches of my web page, I have included the term 'exclusive' to entice avid fans as it will make them feel special and more involved with the band, allowing them to create a sense of personal identity. as well as this, linking the band's social media it creates a level of interactivity between the fans and the artists.

I am going to include images of both behind the scenes shots and professional shoots of the band to offer a variety of content of the artist which will please the audience.

Also, the use of a 'merch' and 'tour' pages are typical conventions of online music artist websites and promotes the band, bringing in a larger profit.

I have featured the music video at the very top of the home page to draw the audience's attention straight to it, which acts as the best promotion possible for the video.
